Care Assistants

Only a short post. Just a quick thought. Why is it that a patient should be being discharged from a hospital nearly in tears because and I quote "The nurses here have been so nice to me, the carers, they only do what they want to do"

Why should any patient be dreading returning to their home because the carers are unwilling to provide them the same level of basic care that an overstretched and understaffed hospital ward can achieve.

Discuss?

I've seen this so many times on PTS, they just dont want to go home because they will be on their own or back to the nursing home because the care is so poor. I use to have a regular renal patient three times a week, we tended to get her home about 6.15 as long as she came out on time, her carers had been and gone by six!! What is the point of having them?? Her poor old hubby who struggled to cope anyway had to manage on his own when she was at her worst! Dialysis realy knocked her about
