As has been previously implied poor patient care is something that causes me a slight irritation. Sadly it ranges widely from person to person. To clarify for people who are unable to understand sarcasm it isn't confined to people working in a particular role.
However one role that tends to contain more than its fair share of liabilities is bank workers. Bank workers make me tear my hair out. You would think as they only work from time to time they would be full of patience and enjoying the opportunity to use those skills that they don't get to practice often.
However what instead I see is frustration at people moving slowly and what can only be described as aggression when trying to get them to do something.
How is it so hard to forget that we move people. We don't move animals or plants or object we move people. These people could easily one day be your friends or family. How is it then that people feel need to treat the elderly like a nuisance.
If I ever see an attendant push a patient to try and make them move faster I will literally feed them their own face. It is not acceptable to shout at a patient that "Your not moving your legs we don't have all day you need to move your legs"
I am currently disgusted by hearing this old lady scared and alone on her way into a hospice manage to whisper the words "I'm trying" whilst looking at the floor ready to burst into tears. No person should ever have to feel like that.
Angry isn't really the word at the moment. Despite my gestures of "No" and "Stop That" an attendant pushed a patient whilst I was supporting them nearly hurting both me and the patient.
I'm too angry at moment to even make an amusing anecdote or attempt to put some clever spin on this. I've been sat stewing over it for a while now hoping that I would stop feeling so furious and wouldn't post this.
At moment I am ashamed to be part of the same organisation as this individual and I can only take some comfort in knowing how well the lady will have been treated in her final hours in that hospice.
